Gov. Ricketts Announces Unemployment Insurance Tax Relief

Tax declines for sixth straight year

LINCOLN –December 14, 2016, Governor Pete Ricketts and Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin announced that Nebraska’s average unemployment insurance tax rate for employers will decline for the sixth straight year. The average tax rate for 2017 will be 0.75 percent, a decrease of 0.25 percentage points from 2016 and a decrease of 2.58 percentage points compared to 2011.

Over $200,000 awarded to seven communities for downtown planning and pre-development work

NOVEMBER 29, 2016 (LINCOLN, NEB.) —The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $206,550 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to seven Nebraska communities to complete Phase I (pre-development and planning) in the Downtown Revitalization category. These projects are designed to develop a strategy for improving businesses and infrastructure within central business districts.
